While it might be the newest building on campus, the Student Engagement Center (SEC) was built on a foundation of history and tradition. Located at the former site of Marian Hall, which included a residence hall, dining hall and gathering place, the SEC will carry on its role as the hub of student life.
“It will be a place for living and learning, where residents find a place to gather and for commuters to have a home away from home,” said UIW President Dr. Thomas Evans at the official ribbon cutting. “The SEC is about the importance of engagement, of ensuring that students are fully involved in the life of this institution and its people.”
In fact, students have been at the heart of the endeavor since demolition began in 2015. Not only were their lifestyles and needs critical to its design, but students also signed their names to a special beam that was used in its construction. Simply put, UIW students are part of the SEC’s DNA. For the rest of the article please visit: http://www.thewordonline.org/2017/11/student-engagement-center-builds-on-strong-foundations/
